It is a Tamil Nadu recipe. It is a very quick snack or tiffin recipe and it is totally healthy.


Ragi- Finger millets  1 Cup
Rice  1/2 Cup
Urad dal  2 Tablespoons
Idly rice  1/2 Cup
Onions(chopped)   1/2 Cup
Green chillies(chopped)  1/2 Teaspoons
Coriander leaves(chopped)  1 Teaspoons
Fresh coconut(grated)  1/2 Cup
Oil   1-2 Tablespoons
Jaggery  2 Teaspoons
Ghee   1-2 Teaspoons
Water  1/4 Cup


1. Take a bowl, add ragi, rice, urad dal, idly rice, water and wash nicely strain water. Soak again in water for 4 hours. 2. Strain water and transfer into blender and blend like dosa batter consistency. Ferment it overnight. 3. For hot paniyaram: To the batter add onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, coconut and mix nicely. 4. Pour little oil in paniyaram mould and pour hot batter and cook it until it is done on both side with lid on it. 5. For sweet paniyaram: Dissolve jaggery in little water and keep aside. 6. To the batter add grated coconut, cardamom powder, jaggery water and mix nicely. 7. Pour little ghee in paniyaram mould and pour sweet batter and cook it until it is done on both side with lid on it. 8. Now sweet ragi paniyaram is ready to serve.
